Who we are

Bringing joy back to homes across Nigeria.

Mercy Alexander Foundation is a Nigerian charity based in Iju, Lagos. We help children back into school, care for older people, help with hospital bills, and stand with families when life gets hard.

Who we are

We were created to support people through the hardest seasons of life, and to help restore hope where it has run thin.

A school fee paid. Food on a hard week. A hospital bill settled for someone who could not pay it. Using the resources God has given us, we meet people at the point of need and stay with them after.

That care has grown into scholarships, help with hospital bills, shelter, debt settlement, financial assistance and food for the most vulnerable. Alongside it, we take part in community development and speak up for children’s rights, so the places where families live become better places to grow up.

Working with individuals, organisations and government agencies, we have reached thousands of Nigerians.

Mission and vision

Our mission and vision

To provide succour for the less privileged, especially vulnerable women and children, and to make our communities liveable for all.

In practice that means school fees paid on time, food on a hard week, a hospital bill settled, and care for the older mothers and fathers who raised a generation.

Mercy’s story

Help, at the right moment, changes everything.

I have always believed that a little help, given at the right moment, can change the direction of a life. A school fee paid on time. A meal on a hard day. Someone who simply shows up, and stays.

For years I helped where I could, quietly and one person at a time. A child’s books here, a neighbour’s food there, a hospital bill for someone who had no one else to ask. Over time I saw that what I was doing alone could reach far more people if we did it together, properly, and for the long term. That is how Mercy Alexander Foundation began.

Every child selling on the street during school hours should be sitting in a classroom. Getting them there is only the start. Staying with them is the work.

Street to School is closest to my heart, but the Foundation has always been about whole families. We sit with the older mothers and fathers who raised a generation and are now too often forgotten. Some of our most meaningful days have been spent with them, including the outreach we held in memory of my late father. At set times in the year, we also go to hospitals to help families with bills they cannot pay.

None of this happens alone. Our team, our volunteers, our partners and everyone who gives are part of this story. Thank you for being part of it.
